My Journey To Becoming A Pro MUA
“What am I doing wrong?!”
My eyes were filled with tears as I looked in the car mirror...
I grabbed a napkin from the glove box and began to scrub my face.
Desperately trying to remove the makeup I had applied less than an hour before.
I scrubbed my face until it was raw.
Frustrated. Defeated. Embarrassed because my husband and sister watched me the entire time.
I didn't understand why my makeup looked so awful. I felt as though I wasn't enough. I didn't deserve to wear makeup.
It wasn't until I started to do my own research outside of Youtube and IG that things began to click.
Analyzing proper makeup application, I realized two things:
1. There are variations of proper application techniques
2. Most influencers have bad habits
I never even realized I could be applying my makeup wrong.
Even when following a popular tutorial. I had to start to shift my view of learning proper makeup applications.
That was 3 years ago.
It was one of the hardest journeys I ever had to go through...But being on this side, I’m so glad that I went through that.
Because now, I’m confident in my ability to change & adapt the products and application techniques I need on any given day.
I know what my skin needs to thrive and be healthy. I know the ingredients to use and the ones to avoid.
And most importantly, the ability to show up to help all of you on your own journey!
